Deadman Mode (DMM) returns on January 30, 2026, with Deadman: Annihilation. Marking the 10th anniversary of the first-ever Deadman event, this season introduces the most radical changes in the history of the mode. Jagex has pivoted toward "approachability," removing some of the most punishing mechanics while doubling down on power-crept Sigils and legendary weaponry.

Whether you are chasing the prestigious Wilderness-themed POH kit or looking to dominate the combat brackets, this comprehensive guide covers every mechanic, rule change, and reward you need to know.

The End of Bank Keys: A New Era of Risk

The most controversial and impactful change in Deadman: Annihilation is the complete removal of Bank Keys. In previous iterations, a single death could wipe out your 10 most valuable stacks in your bank, effectively ending the season for many.

For 2026, your bank is 100% safe.

  • Inventory Risk: You still lose your equipped gear and your entire inventory upon a PvP death.
  • Skull Icons: To compensate for the lack of bank keys, players now have colored skulls above their heads representing their "carried wealth." A red skull indicates the player is carrying over 8 million GP in items, making them a high-priority target for PKers.
  • Why the change? Jagex noted that bank keys often encouraged "muling" (using alt accounts to hide wealth). By making banks safe, the barrier to entry is lower for casual players, and the "rebuild" process is significantly faster.

The Deadman Skull & Progression Shop

Upon starting, every player receives the Deadman Skull. This untradeable item is the centerpiece of your progression. It serves as a shop, a tracker, and a utility tool.

Skull Points vs. Deadman Points

  • Skull Points: These are spent inside the DMM season on Sigils, Quest Lamps, and permanent unlocks. You earn these by leveling up, bossing, and completing tasks.
  • Deadman Points: These are your "currency" for main-game rewards once the event ends. Spending Skull Points on Sigils does not reduce your total Deadman Points for rewards.

Sigil Categorization

Sigils are no longer random drops from NPCs. They must be purchased through the Skull Shop.

  1. Permanent Unlocks: These are passive buffs that never take up a slot and cannot be lost. Examples include Ruinous Powers, Litheness (shortcuts at level 1), and Deft Strikes (+30% accuracy).
  2. Toggle Sigils: Primarily skilling-focused. Enhanced Harvest (3x resources) and Slaughter (choosing Slayer tasks) fall here.
  3. Attune Sigils: These are powerful combat modifiers. You are limited to three attuned sigils at once. This ensures that a skiller using permanent buffs isn't at a combat disadvantage if they get jumped by a PKer.

Ruinous Powers: The Zarosian Prayer Book

The Ruinous Powers make a massive return. For 5,000 Skull Points, players can unlock this offensive-heavy prayer book. In DMM, Jagex has tuned them specifically for PvP:

  • No extra damage taken for using the wrong overhead.
  • Annihilate, Decimate, and Vaporise provide +30% accuracy/damage (up from 25%).
  • Intensify offers a staggering +50% accuracy boost.
  • Combined with the Sigil of Eternal Belief (No natural prayer drain), this makes for a "Glass Cannon" meta that will define the 2026 Finale.

New Weapons & Deadman’s Chests

The Deadman’s Chest is a new world event. When you kill an NPC, a chest may spawn. To open it, you must survive a 60-second timer (30s in multi) without being hit by another player or NPC. These chests contain:

  • Ancient Warrior Armour: Vesta, Statius, Morrigan, and Zuriel sets (Tier 78 stats with level 20 Defense requirements).
  • The Thunder Khopesh: A 1-handed melee weapon that strikes with lightning bolts. In PvP, it hits 4 times over 7 ticks, dealing Magic damage based on the initial melee hit.
  • The Dogsword: A legendary 2-handed sword that combines the special attacks of all four Godswords. One "spec" can freeze, heal, drain prayer, and deal massive damage simultaneously.

Combat Brackets & Multipliers

The server is split into four brackets to prevent maxed players from "noob-stomping" beginners:

  1. Combat 3-60: 10x XP / 3x Drops.
  2. Combat 61-80: 15x XP / 3x Drops.
  3. Combat 81-95: 15x XP / 4x Drops.
  4. Combat 96+: 20x XP / 5x Drops.

Note: You get a period of PvP immunity every time you move into a new bracket, giving you time to gear up.

The 2026 Finale: Allies to Foes

The Finale on February 21st takes place in Daimon’s Crater (Bounty Hunter arena).

  • Phase 1: Players are split into two teams (South-West vs. South-East). You share a team cape and cannot damage allies. You must fight as an army to reach the northern safe zone.
  • Phase 2: As the fog closes in, the alliances dissolve. The final survivors must turn on their former teammates in a Free-For-All to be the last player standing.

Main-Game Rewards

Points earned during the three-week event can be spent in the main game on:

  • Wilderness POH Kit (15,000 pts): A complete visual overhaul for your Player Owned House.
  • Home Teleport Animation (10,000 pts): Your character pulls a Wilderness Lever to teleport.
  • Weapon Recolors (12,000 pts): Unique Deadman-themed skins for the Toxic Staff of the Dead, Bow of Faerdhinen, and Crystal Armour.
